NEW SPECIES

05/01/2025

We are happy to inform you, that the Zoo has new residents again, that are none other than seven young side striped jackals!

There are 3 species of jackals in the nature. The most well known one is our own european golden jackal. Probably the least known one is the side striped jackal, the one we house.

As far as we know there are only 7 kept outside of Africa and all of them are with us. We consider this important not only from an educational and informative point of view, since this way you can get to know a very rare species of animal, but it contributes to a great extent to the promotion of species conservation.

They are the smallest jackal species. They live in groups with one breeding pair. They use lots of vocalisations such as very low barkings and high screaming noises.

Greet them with love among our residents!
